Final Report Ncgia Research Initiative 4 Use and Value of Geographic Information

This report describes the results of NCGIA Research Initiative 4 on Use and Value of Geographic Information. It begins with a discussion of objectives and the process of developing a research agenda. The initiative was active during the period May 1989 through the summer of 1991, although the final wrap-up meeting was not held until April 1992. Since that time, research activities have continued and include activities within the original agenda as well as offshoot activities contained within the research agenda of Initiative 9 on Institutions Sharing Geographic Information. This report describes each of the major areas of the research agenda and the research activities of the Center during and subsequent to the time period of the initiative. The report ends with an assessment of the initiative against five criteria.
